Simple style family session at Pendower Beach, Cornwall

Relaxed vibes with this family of three at their beach family photoshoot in Cornwall

I met this lovely little family at Pendower Beach on the Roseland one sunny Saturday evening for a family session.  Actually, they were sitting in their car when I pulled up and Cecilia was on her dad's lap pretending to drive.  I instantly knew we’d get along well.

Right from the get-go these guys were so relaxed and easy to get on with.  We went straight to the edge of the beach, where the river comes down, and played in the water there for a bit before heading down to the sea shore for some baby swings and family portraits. 

Danielle and Mat met on the Roseland a few years ago when they both worked and lived locally, and have since moved to Truro.  But it was fun to learn that they'd had a huge beach BBQ here last year for their first wedding anniversary. I love that this location has some special memories for them already.

At 6pm the light was not too harsh (bain of my life in Summer - great light is so late!). I adore their outfit choices - the colours and tones worked so well with the surroundings and my shooting/editing style. 

The beach was not too busy and it was absolutely gorgeous. After some messing around on the sand and in the surf we finished up the session on the grass for some family photos - I love that area at this time of day for the light filtering through the trees in the background.  

Danielle and Mat were given this session as a gift from Mat's mother to celebrate their daughter Cecilia's first birthday which was in April, and it was brilliant to be able to photograph them together to mark this milestone and to capture them as the lovely fun family that they are.
