Some babies come along without too much of a struggle. Others take a little more time. Sometimes the wait spans almost two decades and is full of sorrow, grief, perseverance, courage and faith.
What is it about the human heart that is willing to risk its own destruction again and again? Despite the utter devastation of being broken, something heals and the pull comes back - that force, a need to grow new life - the lure of a deep love wanting to be born
This beckoning is so strong it overrides the fear, the pain, the ‘what if’… and for this family it paid off.
Her name is Iris.
By the skin of her teeth, this little baby girl is here, never to be taken for granted.
We spent an hour on a Summer’s evening at their small holding, capturing some moments together, and hopefully these will be treasured once she’s all grown up, looking back on when she was still so small.
