Family photo shoot at Towan Beach, Cornwall

I met this lovely bunch down at Towan Beach towards St Anthony's head on the Roseland one sunny afternoon.  It's a beautiful spot - one of my favourites on the Roseland for photo shoots because of the variety of landscapes.  The National Trust car park is right on the footpath, near some woodland, and then you walk through some fields to get to the beach, so there are at least 3 options for backdrops.

You can read more about this location and others on the Roseland in my post ‘Best family beaches on the Roseland’.

There was mum and dad - Ken and Lisa, and Josh (14), Erin (9) and Jasmine (16 months).  I'd been corresponding with Ken who'd bought a voucher for Lisa’s Christmas present, and already knew he was full of humour and fun.  The rest of the family were just the same and we had a brilliant time.  It had turned in to a gorgeous afternoon, and we had some beautiful light too - yay!

Jasmine, the little late lamb as I call her, ruled the roost.  My son is a similar age and that's exactly how it is in our house too!  I love how in half of the family photos she's off on her own mission.  She and big brother Josh gave me lots of adorable moments - he is pretty amazing for a 14 year old.  I expect most parents could only wish to have their son be so mature, well mannered and friendly!  Erin was 'the shy one' although she was happy to show me her fantastic gymnastic moves.

What I love most about this family is how playful they all are, and how naturally it came to them to horse around together - as if they do it all the time (and I'm imagining they do!).  Here is a really well-balanced family, and I felt inspired to make sure I'm regularly spending quality 'messing around' time with my boys.

After the beach we took a couple of photos by the woods and then on the footpath near the car park, just as the sun was setting.  Perfect end to a wonderful family photography session.
