Many of my clients are returning customers, bringing in their second or third babies to be photographed.  Kim and Ash first came to me when they had their first baby in 2014, so it was really exciting when they got in touch for a newborn session for their second baby - a beautiful little boy named Koa.

Even though it’s a short time together during the photo shoot, I really feel like I get a good glimpse into the families I photograph during these sessions. I love getting to know them, and I think because I’m familiar too they open up and the children are a lot more comfortable with me.  It's like seeing old friends when they return.

I was so delighted to see 'baby' Mila, almost 3 years old now and a very proud big sister.  And of course, it was amazing to get to photograph her tiny baby brother Koa, who was just under 2 weeks old. 

We started off with the little ones together - I try to get this out of the way so that the older sibling can go off and play.  The idea is that if it doesn't happen at the start then at least we will have more chances to try again later in the session.  Mila did need a bit of convincing, but she went along with it and gave us some beautiful big smiles with the baby.

Koa slept like a dream!  Second babies often do - parents are so much more relaxed and the entire session feels chilled when we already know each other.  I really enjoyed this one!

As we were chatting while getting shoes on at the end, Koa's dad said how much it meant to them to be able to come back to me for these photos, and I hope he knows how sincere I was when I told him how much it meant to me too.  It really does!!
