Bump to Baby Package | Maternity & newborn photos Krissy & Dan

Bump to baby photography package for couple in Cornwall

Capturing not only your pregnancy but also your brand new tiny squish a month or two later is a fantastic way to celebrate this amazing transformation! And the start of the most awesome journey you can ever take.

Bump…

New parents-to-be in Cornwall, Krissy & Dan, booked in a maternity shoot at Pendower beach in Cornwall at around 34 weeks. We’d met at the studio a few weeks prior to go through my client wardrobe and Krissy chose a couple of dresses to wear, which I brought along for her to change into for the session.

Krissy works in conservation and both are fierce nature & outdoor lifestyle lovers, living in Cornwall but from Guernsey. She loved the natural, rustic style and wanted that for her photos.

The weather was sunny but the wind was FREEZING! This was early April so not quite shorts and t-shirts yet, but they were both very uncomplaining although Krissy’s teeth were chattering at times!

We kept it moving and despite the cold it was a really fun session.

What makes a maternity session fun?

Probably the thing I hear most often when people book a bump shoot is ‘my husband hates being in photos’ or ‘we’re both really camera shy so we’ll probably be really awkward…’

I have yet to meet anyone who doesn’t end up enjoying the session and saying afterwards in surprise that they had fun! I can’t explain why - I don’t do anything particularly entertaining. I don’t tell jokes or do any games… In fact most of the time I boss you around and make you do stuff you wouldn’t normally do.

But for some reason that’s fun for people and if not, my hope is that when they see the photos they get it :)

Warming up between shots

To baby…

Quinn arrived a couple of months later, and predictably, despite being extremely well read and uber-prepared, it threw Krissy and Dan’s world upside down. Their newborn love bubble had some added challenges with feeding and baby tummy troubles, which meant that we had a slightly later-than-usual newborn session when Quinn was 5 weeks old.

Unsettled newborn

Krissy was skeptical about the session but we decided to just go for it and see what happens. While they were trying everything they could to figure out how to help her, Quinn was very unsettled in general.

Two very shattered new parents arrived at my studio on the appointed day. But Quinn managed to stay quite sleepy from the car seat and we put her straight onto the beanbag for some wrapped shots.

In fact, the session went like most do - baby slept part of the time, needed some feeding and cuddles, settled again, but we got plenty of gorgeous shots before she really lost it and we had to call it a day.

All’s well that ends well

I was so happy to show Krissy and Dan the photos a few weeks later at their viewing. Looking at the gallery of peaceful and serene photos I hope will help them to remember all the love and wonder of those early weeks - with one or two to remind them that it wasn’t all easy :)
